Dog sled - 3 days excursion  

 

From Ilulissat we can offer 3 different itineraries for the three days dog sled tour. Depending if you like watching the fisherman catching Halibut in the icefjord or try yourself handlining cods north of Rodebay or visiting the Sermeq Avagnardleq glacier. All the three options offer you the the great opportunity to experience one of the oldest mean of transportation in the world. All itineraries have 3 full days dogsledging with full board and 2 night in cabins.

Itinerary 1 - Glacier, Fishing Spots (cod) and Rodebay

 

1st day
The dog sled will take you to the glacier of Sermeq Avagnardleq and then to the cabin where you will spend the night.
2nd day
From the hut the dog sled will take you to Kangerssuneq where you will try fishing cods from a hole in the pack ice. Night at the cabin in Kangerssuneq
3rd day
From Kangerssuneq you will travel back to Ilulissat stopping in the village of Rodebay. Visit of the small settlement and, if interested, we can arrange lunch at the traditional restaurant H8. Arrival in Ilulissat around 4pm.

Itinerary 2 - Fishing spots (Halibut), Glacier and Rodebay

 

1st day
Departure at 10am from Ilulissat. The sled will take to the fishing spot on the icefjord to watch the inuit fishing halibut with the long line. In the afternoon the sled will take you to the cabin where you will have dinner and spend the night.
2nd day
Today the sled will travel to the glacier of Sermeq Avagnardleq. In the afternoon return to the same cabin for the night.
3rd day
From the hut to Ilulissat stopping in the village of Rodebay.Visit of the small settlement and, if interested, we can arrange lunch at the traditional restaurant H8. Arrival in Ilulissat around 4pm

The price includes:

- 3 days dogseldge tour full bord;
- Polar sleeping bag and mat;
- Transfer by bus to and from the accommodation to the dog sled starting point and return.

Notes:

- The excursions can be cancelled or modified depending on the weather conditions, snow conditions on the sled tracks or for safety reasons. The excursion might not be able to reach all the destination listed on the itineraries above.
- Its required to the participants to have warm clothes and right equipment for the excursion. The average winter daily temperature are 15/20 degrees celsius below zero). 

- The participants should also be in good phisical conditions. The excursion has a high level of difficulty.
- Its required to the participants to bring only one piece of luggage with a max weight of 15 kg.

- Seal skin clothes and boots can be rent with an additional cost per person.
